The story so far
The 2nd Public Enema Memorial Run raises over 1,000.00!

Sunday, 15th June.

Weather conditions for the second Public Enema memorial run were perfect, and many hashers regarded the various products of the Bath Ales Brewery with longing.

But, it was supposed to be the second Public Enema memorial run, so, eventually, at about 11.20 am, we set off at a steady stroll. There seemed to be some simmering disagreement between the hares (Public Enemy and Lightning) and the chief flour bag carrier, Gazza. Apart from this, the run was pleasant enough, if hot, and the pack returned to the brewery at about 12.40 pm.

There followed the fast replacement of body fluids, fun with a hose, a hat competition, down-downs, the barbecue, the raffle and Soprano's Famous Auction.

Soprano herself describes the scene:

" Hashers, one and all. What a remarkable day we had at the Bath Ales Brewery on Sunday, 15th June, for the 2nd Public Enema Memorial Hash and Auction. Dave, was clearly looking down on us as the weather was fantastic, the BBQ superb, the company jubilant and the Auction ended up a magnificent testimony to the affection the Hash clearly holds for our dear departed, and much missed friend, Dave Iles. A frisson of excitement filled the air as upbeat Hashers checked out the auctionable items clearly surprised at the amount and excellent quality of all we had received. So, after a truly unforgetable Hash, courtesy of Hares Lightning, Public Enemy and flour carrier Gazza - the Fat Controller's BBQ was over, a few beers later and, after a moments reflection for Dave's memory - then, as soon as the Auction commenced, with fervour mounting, we were in our stride and away with the bidding hitting new heights! What a tremendous team effort! We are all still in shock at the final total. I had announced at the start that we needed 320.00 to take the overall total above the 1000.00 mark, but, to my utter astonishment, the Auction raised a massive 954.30 - taking the combined overall total from the three Auctions alone to 1,634.30. Plus, we must not forget that the Raffle raised a separate 78.00!

Let us reflect too that Iron Maiden had raised a superb 290.00 from her tremendous run in the London marathon and that Kerbcrawler's overall total from her London marathon, and very moving effort, raised 5,000. Therefore, so far, the Hash ALONE has raised well over 7,000.00 for Cancer Research UK and the Oncology Ward at the Bristol Infirmary, where Dave was cared for.

Massive respect for Young Man Richard at Bath Ales Brewery for the venue and then donating dinner for two at the Hop Pole + bottle of wine, a party casket of beer and limited-edition bottles of beer.

We can, though, one and all, feel justly proud.

ON ON!

"

And, if anyone can still be in any doubt, here are some pictures to prove that Bristol HHH can organise a piss up in a brewery:
